Parents Charged In Region For Allegedly Not Paying Thousands In Child Support Sheriff's deputies in the region charged three people for allegedly failing to pay their child support. The Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office has arrested the following individuals on Family Court warrants for child support violations: Melissa A. Lynch, age 36, of Swan Lake, was charged on Thursday, Feb. 15 for not paying $2,500 in child support. Man From Region Arrested 4 Times In 2-Week Span For Stalking, Police say A man from the region was arrested four times in two weeks for allegedly stalking and harassing an employee of a local bank. Sullivan County resident Jhakem Degroat, age 31, of Monticello was arrested for the fourth time in Liberty on Friday, Oct. 13, said Chief Steven D’Agata of the Liberty Police. All of the arrests stemmed from incidents surrounding his stalking and harassing behavior of an employee at a local bank in the village of Liberty, D'Agata said. 46-Year-Old Man Shoots, Kills Father In Region A man from the region is behind bars after allegedly shooting his father in the head, killing him. Sullivan County resident Drew Botsford, age 46, of the town of Neversink was charged on Sunday, Oct. 8 with second-degree murder. Trooper Steven Nevel, of the New York State Police, said officers responded to a residence on Bradley Avenue in the town of Neversink for a report of a cardiac arrest. Drunk, Pickaxe-Wielding Man Breaks Into Residence In Region, Attacks Homeowner, Cops Say A homeowner in the region is no doubt shaken up, but otherwise okay after police said a drunk man wielding a pickaxe broke into his home and attacked him. Authorities in Sullivan County were called just before 9 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 14, with reports of an assault and attempted robbery at a home in Bethel, located on Mohawk Trail. State Police determined that the 38-year-old suspect, Daniel Desseauve, of Highland in Ulster County, approached the home carrying a pickaxe and pushed the front door open. Man Accused Of Brutally Beating Puppy To Death In Region A man has been accused of brutally beating a puppy, leading to its death in the region. Police in Sullivan County arrested Miguel Colon, age 34, of the Village of Liberty, after an investigation into the death of the 4-month-old pit bull.  Liberty Police Department officers began investigating after receiving a report that the puppy had been killed by an individual in the village, police said.  The investigation led officers to a location on Lake Street in the Village of Liberty where they were able to recover the remains of the dog which had been buried in a shallow grave, …
