Retired Sergeant, Canine Handler From Mahopac Dies At 50: 'Exemplary Member' A police department in Westchester is mourning the loss of a retired sergeant from the Hudson Valley who served for more than two decades and was known for his love of his beloved canine partner.  Putnam County resident Christopher Provenzano of Mahopac, who served with the Harrison Police Department for over 20 years, died on Wednesday, Nov. 8 at the age of 50, according to his obituary.  Born in 1973, Provenzano served in many capacities during his time with Harrison Police, including his role as a canine handler. 3 Injured, 1 Critically In Multi-Vehicle I-84 Crash One person was critically injured and two others received minor injuries in a four-vehicle crash in the Hudson Valley. The crash took place in Orange County in the town of Deerpark on I-84 near mile marker 1.4, said Trooper Steven Nevel, of the New York State Police. A preliminary investigation revealed that Frances Taillard, age 67, from Montague, New Jersey was driving a 2017 GMC Sierra when he entered I-84 and was traveling west in the eastbound lanes when he struck a Dodge Durango head-on, Nevel said. Wrong-Way Driver Caught After Striking Cop Cruiser On I-84 In Kent: Police A 41-year-old woman was slapped with drunk driving charges after driving the wrong way on I-84 throughout two counties in the Hudson Valley, striking a police cruiser in the process, authorities said. The woman's arrest stemmed from an incident in Putnam County on Saturday, Nov. 11 around 1:45 a.m., when a vehicle was reported to be traveling east in the westbound lanes of Interstate 84 in Kent.  According to the Putnam County Sheriff's Office, a sheriff's deputy found the vehicle and attempted to stop it. Car Rolls Over, Lands On Brush By Taconic State Parkway In Hudson Valley A vehicle was heavily damaged after rolling over and landing in an embankment on the side of the Taconic State Parkway in Northern Westchester.  The incident happened just before 7 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 13 on the northbound Taconic State Parkway in Millwood, according to the Millwood Volunteer Fire Co. #1.  Arriving firefighters and police soon found that the vehicle had left the parkway, rolled over, and landed back on its wheels on top of brush inside an embankment, the fire department said.  Crews then worked to stabilize the car and remained at the scene for over an hour …

Man From Region Caught Burglarizing Tattoo Shop By Employee, Police Say A 34-year-old man from the region was nabbed after he allegedly broke into an area tattoo studio. The incident took place in Sullivan County in the town of Liberty around 9:40 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 11 at the City Lights II Tattoo Studio on Route 52. According to Sullivan County Undersheriff Eric Chaboty, the sheriff's department responded to the studio after receiving a report of a burglary in progress. The Village of Liberty Police arrived on the scene first and detained the suspect for the responding deputies, Chaboty said. Deputies arrested Byron T. Santiago, age 34, of Woodbourne. …

Man Jumps To Death From Bear Mountain Bridge A 48-year-old man jumped to his death from a Hudson Valley bridge. The incident took place on Friday, Nov. 10 at the Bear Mountain Bridge near in the town of Cortlandt in Northern Westchester County. According to New York State Police Trooper AJ Hicks, New Jersey resident Aleksey P. Mikhaylov, of Northvale, was located and pronounced dead at the scene.   No signs of foul play were discovered at this time, Hicks said. The Westchester County Medical Examiner’s Office was on scene for the investigation.

The incident took place in Dutchess County in Beacon just before 6 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 14 at the Newburgh-Beacon Bridge. According to Trooper AJ Hicks of the New York State Police, the woman's body has been recovered. Notification of next of kin is still taking place, so the woman's identity has not yet been released. Man Standing On Roadway In Hudson Valley Struck, Killed By Tractor-Trailer, Police Say A man standing in the center lane of I-287 in the Hudson Valley was hit and killed by a tantum tractor-trailer and then struck by a second vehicle. The incident occurred around 10:45 p.m., Monday, Nov. 13 in Westchester County in Harrison near mile marker No. 6. According to New York State Police Trooper AJ Hicks, the unidentified man was standing in the center lane when the tractor-trailer came upon him and could not stop in time.  The man was then hit by the vehicle behind the tractor-trailer, Hicks said. Dutchess County resident Ashley M. Hernandez, of Hyde Park, was charged on Sunday, Nov. 12, for kidnapping and child endangerment following the incident at the Golden Manor Motel on Albany Post Road in the town of Hyde Park. Maurice Deutsch, age 40, of Brooklyn, was arrested by the Ramapo Police on Friday, Nov. 10, for the burglaries that took place in Rockland County in the village of New Hempstead and the Monsey area. According to Det. Lt. Christopher Franklin, of the Ramapo Police, on three occasions, Deutsch had entered a building on the grounds of a cemetery in New Hempstead and removed proceeds from a charity box.  In addition, Deutsch is accused of…
