The old Tappan Zee Bridge may be gone, but traffic problems continue to persist near the new bridge. Tappan Zee Constructors announced that it will be realigning Rockland-bound traffic near the Westchester landing during the overnight hours of Friday, Jan. 18, prompting lane and ramp closures in the area. Starting Date Set For Harriman Toll Plaza Demolition
Demolition of the Harriman toll plaza on the New York State Thruway has a starting date, following the Thruway Authority’s transition to cashless tolls in the Hudson Valley. Beginning on Monday, Jan. 14, a Westchester contracting company will begin demolition in Harriman, as the state continues a $13.9 million plan to convert plazas in the region to cashless, all-electronic tolls. I-87 Crash Involving Overturned Vehicle Causes Gridlock Near New TZB

Both lanes reopened by noontime after a crash involving an overturned car and two others vehicles caused gridlock on a stretch of I-87 near the new Tappan Zee Bridge late Friday morning. The southbound incident occurred around 10:15 a.m. at Exit 9 (Route 9) with stopped traffic at the scene and Westchester-bound delays stretching back over the span.

Box Truck Crash Backs Up Traffic On New TZB
A crash that slowed traffic for about an hour on the new Tappan Zee Bridge has been cleared, but there are still residual back-ups. The crash of a box truck took place around 1 p.m. Friday on the Westchester-bound side near Exit 13 in Tarrytown, said the New York State Police. Currently, the bus lane and shoulder southbound are closed for repairs to the side of the bridge where the truck hit, state police said. Troopers have cleared the scene and traffic should be back up to speed soon, they added. No serious injuries were reported.

Roadwork Alert: Traffic Shift Scheduled For Route 32 In Orange County
Traffic will be shifting to recently constructed roads and bridges on a busy Orange County roadway. The New York State Department of Transportation issued an alert on Tuesday warning that beginning on Monday, Dec. 17, motorists on Route 32 in Woodbury will be shifty onto newly constructed roads and bridges. The shift comes as part of the ongoing Woodbury Transit Hub reconstruction project. A Rockland County motorist was arrested for impaired driving as police in Ramapo ramp up their efforts to enforce a “no left turn” signal at a busy area intersection.
