HAVERSTRAW, N.Y. – Julia Fitzula Martino, a resident of Haverstraw, died Monday, Jan. 11. She was 93.
Coming from a political family, Martino became active at the age of 21. She worked at the U.S. Naval Ammunition Depot (Iona Island), where she met her husband Anthony, a U.S. Marine stationed there. When it closed in 1948, she became employed at U.S. Military Academy at West Point. After raising her family, she went to work for the Rockland County Personnel Department and was in charge of the Health Insurance for CSEA employees.
She is survived by her family, son Gary Paul Martino'; daughter-in-law Yvette Marie; and her granddaughter Joelle Marie Martino. She also is survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins from the Loblanco, Gamboli, Holt, Fitzula and Martino families.
She was predeceased by her husband Anthony.
