Sammy Melillo, 74, Lifelong New Rochelle Resident, Owned Sammy’s Bar

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. - Sammy Melillo, a lifelong resident of New Rochelle, died Sept.16. He was 74.

Melillo was born June 8, 1940, in New Rochelle, to Samuel and Evelyn (Lanzilotte) Melillo.

He was the owner of Sammy’s Bar in the West End of New Rochelle for many years.

Melillo is survived by his wife, Phyllis; daughter, StacyAnn Melillo-Keiler (David); son, Mickey Melillo; and three grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents; and aunt, Yolanda “Dickie” Lancelot.

Calling hours are Friday, Sept. 19 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Lloyd Maxcy & Sons Beauchamp Chapel, 16 Shea Place, New Rochelle. A Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 20  at Holy Name Church. Interment at Beechwoods Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Butterflies from Jodie, 31 President St., New Rochelle.
