Young Bands To Compete At Rye Playland

RYE, N.Y. -- On July 20, several young bands will have their chance to shine in the spotlight at Rye Playland’s Ninth Annual Battle of the Bands.

The lucky few chosen to compete will have an opportunity to take the stage at the Music Tower Theater for an opportunity to win a grand prize.

Yonkers own Howling Hour won last year’s competition out of the six groups that were selected to perform. They received a Battle of the Band’s trophy, as well as a guaranteed spot in this year’s competition.

All bands chosen to compete are amateur musicians between the ages of 15-20. A band’s eligibility has been decided based upon an original music sample or a unique interpretation of a cover song. All music is decided upon by a panel of judges.

The rain date for the competition is July 27, and it is presented by the Westchester County Parks and the Friends of Westchester County Parks, Inc.
