Officer Injured During West Hempstead Arrest, Police Say The officer sustained injuries when a Long Island man resisted arrest, according to the police. The incident occurred at 10 p.m. on Sunday, April 23 in West Hempstead. According to the detectives, who were on patrol at the time of the incident, two men were drinking alcohol and walking in the street near Woodfield Road. Upon further investigation, the police claim, they decided to put Aaron F. Martin, age 43, under arrest. Person Killed In Overnight Hit-Run West Hempstead Crash Police are investigating a fatal overnight hit-and-run crash on Long Island. It happened around 3:40 a.m. Friday, Dec. 16 in West Hempstead. A witness observed a man lying in the westbound lane of Woodfield Road, Nassau County Police said.  As the witness attempted to render aid, a four-door sedan traveling westbound on the roadway struck the victim and did not stop, according to police.  The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by a police medic, the Nassau County PD said. 12-Year-Old ID'd As Person Struck, Killed By Vehicle Near Intersection In West Hempstead Family members have identified the person struck and killed by a car while crossing a Long Island street as being a local 12-year-old boy. According to a GoFundMe, Tomas Molina, of West Hempstead, was hit and killed around 12:55 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 2. The boy was crossing the street on Woodfield Road in the vicinity of Lindberg Street when he was struck by a vehicle traveling southbound, Nassau County Police said.  Police declined to officially name Molina as the victim due to his age.
