Mitchell Messling, 66, was driving the vehicle westbound on West Merrick Road near the intersection of South Long Beach Avenue around 4:10 p.m., Monday, May 27, when he left the roadway and drove partially onto the sidewalk, Nassau County Police said. Multiple Injuries Reported After BMW SUV Loses Control, Strikes Pedestrians In Freeport At least three people were injured when an out-of-control BMW SUV jumped a curb and struck three pedestrians late in the afternoon on Memorial Day. The incident occurred around 4:15 p.m. at South Long Beach Avenue and West Merrick Road in Freeport when the SUV traveling westbound landed on the sidewalk near a branch of Bethpage bank and opposite a CVS. Three victims were children and one was airlifted to the hospital, according to ABC 7. There has not been any word yet on the conditions of those injured. This is a developing story.
