Five In Disabled Boat Rescued Off Long Island Coast Five boaters on Long Island were rescued just in the nick of time by Suffolk County Police after their vessel became disabled with a storm rapidly approaching them. While responding to an unrelated call, Suffolk County Marine Bureau officers spotted an emergency flare go off at approximately 8:20 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 3 in the Great South Bay off Fire Island Pines. Police said that at the time the flare went off, there was a storm squall approaching, bringing lightning and wind gusts of up to 30 mph, putting the boaters in added danger. Body Of LI Man Who Fell Off Boat In Great South Bay Found The body of an East Islip man who had fallen overboard from his 34-foot Fountain boat has been found. Suffolk County Police Homicide Squad detectives are investigating the death of Samuel Gutierrez, 47, whose body was found floating in the Great South Bay, just south of Timber Point, said the Suffolk County Police. Man Found Dead In Swimming Pool At Fire Island Restaurant Police are investigating the death of a man found unresponsive in a restaurant swimming pool on Fire Island. A 911 call to police Thursday evening, July 4 reported that the man was found unconscious in the pool at around 7:05 p.m.  Marine Bureau officers responded to Canteen at Fire Island Pines where they reportedly found Carlos F.
