Lydia Ciminelli, of Lake Ronkonkoma, died Monday, Aug. 7, after she was struck in Ronkonkoma while crossing Rosevale Avenue near Motor Parkway at around 9:30 a.m. Moments before the crash, Ciminelli had gotten off a bus and was walking to the Ronkonkoma Senior Center for an exercise class, according to a GoFundMe. Man Struck, Killed By Car In Front Of Long Island Business Police are investigating an early-morning car crash that left a pedestrian dead in front of a Long Island business. The incident happened just before 5 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 11, on Route 110 in North Amityville, according to Suffolk County Police. A 59-year-old man was crossing the roadway in front of the Amityville Laundromat when he was struck by a southbound Hyundai Santa Fe. The victim died at the scene. Major Long Island Road Closed Due To Fatal Hit-Run Crash A major Long Island roadway is closed due to a fatal hit-and-run crash that killed a pedestrian.  The crash took place around 6 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 4, in East Patchogue eastbound on the Sunrise Highway, said Suffolk County Police. According to police, an adult male was standing or walking on the entrance ramp to eastbound Sunrise Highway, east of Hospital Road when he was struck by a vehicle that fled the scene.  The man was pronounced dead at the scene.  As of 12:15 p.m., the highway remains closed between Exits 53 and 54, between Route 112 and Hospital Road. The incident happened Friday, Jan. 15, at approximately 4:25 p.m. in East Patchogue. Zipporah Johnson,  age 28, of Patchogue, was driving a 2004 Nissan westbound on Montauk Highway, near Scherger Avenue, when her vehicle struck Arturo Peralta, age 77, of East Patchogue, who was walking with his bicycle, Suffolk County Police said.
