Four Residents Escape From Nassau County Home Engulfed In Flames A Long Island home received heavy damage during a fire that engulfed the entire residence. The fire started around 3:15 a.m., Monday, March 8, at the home on Monroe Street in Inwood, said the Nassau County Police. Four residents inside the home were able to escape the flames with help from the Inwood Fire Department without harm, police said. According to firefighters, the first arriving units found the home engulfed in flames and fire coming from windows and doors. Possible Explosion At Nassau Home Leads To Fires At Multiple Residences A possible explosion at a Long Island home ignited a fire that quickly spread to adjacent residences. At around 5:30 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 1 in Meadowmere Park, located in Lawrence, authorities received a report of a house fire with an explosion at 3 South St. Upon arrival by emergency responders, the residence was fully engulfed in flames, with two adjacent homes, at 1 South Street and 5 South Street, on fire as well, according to authorities. Details Emerge After Fire Rips Through Row Of Nassau County Stores New details have been released after an early morning four-alarm fire damaged several businesses at a Long Island shopping plaza. The fire started around 2:40 a.m., Friday, Nov. 22 in Cedarhurst when Nassau County Police called the Lawrence Cedarhurst Fire Department reporting smoke coming from the building. The building, located at 604 Central Avenue, is home to a yogurt and ice cream store, a dry cleaner, pharmacy, and a pizza restaurant.  Officers responded to the building within minutes and were met by an employee who opened one of the businesses.
