Man Grabs Teen While She Walks Home From School In Merrick: Police A homeless man was arrested after he harassed a young Long Island girl trying to walk home from school, authorities said. It happened on Tuesday, Sept. 12 in Merrick, according to Nassau County Police. At approximately 2:50 p.m., a 14-year-old girl was walking on Merrick Road, on her way home from John F. Kennedy High School when she noticed 44-year-old Christopher Christopheren walking toward her. He grabbed her tightly by the arm and screamed obscenities at her, police said. These Long Island High School Seniors Named Regeneron Scholars Thirty-eight high school seniors on Long Island are among the top 300 scholars in the Regeneron Science Talent Search 2023, regarded as the nation’s oldest and most prestigious scholastic science and math competition, the Society for Science announced on Tuesday, Jan. 10.The 300 will be awarded $2,000 each and their schools will be awarded $2,000 for each enrolled scholar.
