Emergency crews were called at around 1 p.m. Monday, May 8, with reports that an employee had been killed at the Omni Recycling in West Babylon, located on Alder Street, according to Suffolk County Police. Suffolk County police announced that an adult man was involved in a fatal industrial accident at his place of employment on Monday, May 8. The man, who was an employee of Omni Recycling, located at 114 Alder Street, was struck by a payloader at approximately 1 p.m., according to police. He was pronounced dead at the scene. 26-Year-Old From Merrick Airlifted After Fall From Conveyor Belt Police are investigating an industrial accident that seriously injured a Long Island man. Nassau County resident, Timothy Baumann, age 26, of Merrick, injured his arm after falling off a conveyor belt at Rason Asphalt, located at 136 Spagnoli Road, in Melville, at 8 a.m., Friday, March 11. Baumann was airlifted by helicopter to Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow for treatment of serious injuries, said the Suffolk County Police. Worker Injured After Being Trapped Between Two Industrial Lifts On Long Island An industrial worker suffered serious, but non-life-threatening, injuries after becoming trapped between two lifts on Long Island. The incident took place around 11:15 a.m., Monday, Dec. 14, when a 55-year-old man was loading industrial lifts on to a flatbed truck in the parking lot of Sunbelt Rentals, located at 150 Nassau Ave., Islip when he became trapped between two lifts, said the Suffolk County Police. He was transported to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore for treatment of serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
