The rankings were released on Tuesday, Aug. 29. Top-ranked in the Empire State is the High School Math Science and Engineering at CCNY, with a 100-percent graduation rate and college readiness rating of 98.9, placing it at the No. 22 spot nationally. These Nassau County Schools Honored For Excellent Athletes, Scholars Just 35 high schools across Long Island were given a special designation for their stellar athletes who double as stellar academics. The New York State Public High School Athletic Association, or NYSPHSAA, announced its 2022-2023 “School of Distinction” list on Thursday, July 27. Out of all 84 schools given the award, 35 were from Long Island. In order to qualify, a high school must have 100 percent of its varsity teams qualify for a “Scholar-Athlete team award,” which designates that the team’s average GPA is greater than or equal to a 90. Memorial Services Announced For Former Garden City HS Lacrosse Player Killed In Crash Memorial services have been set for the Garden City former high school lacrosse player who was killed in a car accident. Sabrina Milone, 21, of Garden City, was killed around 9 p.m., Saturday, June 8, in a single-vehicle crash on Route 495 in Amesbury, Massachusets, said the Massachusetts State Police.  There will be a visitation on Friday, June 14 from 3 to 8 p.m. at Fairchild Sons Funeral Home, 1201 Franklin Ave., Garden City.  A service will be on Saturday, June 15 at 11 a.m. at Garden City Community Church, 245 Stewart Ave., Garden City.  Milone was a 2016 graduate of G…

Former Garden City HS Lacrosse Player, 21, Killed In Car Crash A former Garden City High School lacrosse player has been killed in a car crash just north of Boston. Sabrina Milone, 21, of Garden City, was killed around 9 p.m., Saturday, June 8, in a single-vehicle crash on Route 495 in Amesbury, Massachusets, said the Massachusetts State Police. A preliminary investigation by Trooper Michael Crowley indicates that Milone was traveling on Route 495 northbound in a 2015 Jeep Wrangler when, for reasons still under investigation, she traveled off the right side of the roadway and crashed.  Milone was transported to Anna Jaques Hospital where she died…
