Family Of Late Albertson Firefighter Sees Outpouring Of Support: 'Loss Of A True Pillar' Colleagues and loved ones are mourning the loss of a beloved firefighter from Long Island being remembered for his many contributions to the community. Davinder Singh, of Albertson, died Friday, Jan. 12, according to his obituary. An age and cause of death were not given. The New York Blood Center said on Monday, Aug. 23 that in recent weeks, the Type O blood supply has dropped from a supply of five days to between two and three days and between one to two days. Blood Drives To Be Held In Effort To Save 4-Year-Old LI Boy With Leukemia A number of blood drives are being held in the area this month in the hope of saving a Long Island 4-year-old with leukemia.  Nassau County resident Ayden Paredes, of Glen Cove, was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia on Feb. 7 of 2021, according to Mark Paredes, Ayden's father.  Ayden has been receiving chemotherapy treatments and blood transfusions since then, but doctors are now saying he needs a blood stem cell/bone marrow transplant to save his life, Mark said.
