A popular Long Island restaurant known for its casual American cuisine is changing hands after 15 years in business.

McQuades Neighborhood Grill, located in Lynbrook at 275 Merrick Road, has been sold to new owners, restaurant owner Jim McQuade revealed in a Facebook post Monday, Jan. 2.

“The decision to sell after 15 years of serving you, getting to know you and making you part of our McQuade's family was not done lightly,” he said.

“Our family business has been going steadily for many years and has been a wonderful experience for us. Lynbrook and the surrounding communities will always hold a special place in our hearts.”

The restaurant will continue to operate under the "McQuades" name before James Laurelli of Ugly Phil Brewing debuts a new concept later in 2023, spokesperson Lauren Laurelli told Daily Voice.

In the meantime, "McQuade's visitors can expect the same delicious menu with some additions, including Sunday Brunch, daily happy hour specials and monthly featured cocktails," Laurelli said.

McQuade's post went on to thank the eatery’s staff “for being such an integral part of our business and for helping us to provide so many wonderful experiences to our countless guests over the years.”

“Our deepest gratitude and very best and sincerest wishes to each and everyone of our loyal customers and friends,” he continued. “We will miss hosting all of you, but now it's time to hang with a new, smaller crew.”

News of the ownership change garnered hundreds of reactions, comments, and shares on Facebook, including one from Peggy MacLean, a 1972 graduate of Valley Stream South High School.

“(The class) just had our 50th reunion at McQuade’s… It was a wonderful event and everyone at McQuade’s was exceptional,” MacLean said.

“The food was outstanding. The quality in your service, staff, and food will always be remembered and appreciated!!”

McQuades Neighborhood Grill serves up a wide selection of American fare, including burgers, sandwiches, and appetizers like loaded potato skins, short rib tacos, and buffalo wings.

Among customer favorites, according to Yelp, is the chicken pot pie and honey glazed grilled Atlantic salmon.

McQuade's is open Wednesday through Sunday. Find out more on its website
