A 56-year-old Staten Island man was charged with aggravated harassment after being accused of frequently calling his ex-girlfriend in Suffern and making threats and being issued an order of protection to stay away from the woman and her home. Sing Sing Guard Acquitted Of Criminal Assault Charges OSSINING, N.Y. – A guard for the Sing Sing Correctional Facility was acquitted of criminal assault charges on Friday in Ossining despite the existence of security video showing him punching an inmate, according to the New York Times. Guard Lavar Thomas was seen in the May 2015 video punching inmate Daniel Hyers five times in the head, testifying that he believed Hyers was going to spit on him, the Times said. 4-Year-Old Boy Hit By Car In Poughkeepsie Remains In Critical Condition POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – A 4-year-old boy remains in critical condition after a car accident Thursday night in Poughkeepsie, according to the Poughkeepsie Journal. The accident happened about 5 p.m. on Mansion Street as the boy was playing with a sibling, the Journal said. An 85-year-old man was driving the vehicle that hit the boy, reported the Poughkeepsie Journal. Ramapo Police Find Black Smoke Billowing Out Of Illegal Bakery In Monsey MONSEY, N.Y. – Ramapo police discovered black smoke billowing out of an illegal bakery on Forshay Road in Monsey on Thursday, according to lohud.com. Ramapo police and an engine from the Monsey Fire Department responded to calls about black smoke, lohud.com said. The bakery is owned by Congregation Ateres Yisroel, which has received many citations and building code violations over the last few years, reported lohud.com. Mount Pleasant Elementary Students Record Pledge Of Allegiance MOUNT PLEASANT, N.Y. – First- and third-graders at Hawthorne and Columbus elementary schools in Mount Pleasant recorded the Pledge of Allegiance for local radio station WHUD-FM 100.7 on Tuesday morning. Yankees Honor Ballplayer Killed In Yonkers YONKERS, N.Y. – A ballplayer killed in Yonkers was honored by the New York Yankees before Thursday night's game at Yankee Stadium, according to News 12. Michael Nolan was killed in a drive-by shooting in October after recently being drafted by the Oakland A's, News 12 said. Cashless Tolls To Start This Weekend On Tappan Zee Bridge Cashless tolls are coming to the Tappan Zee Bridge this weekend. While the original plan was to have the new tolls ready to go on Saturday morning, rainy weather is expected to push the launch to late Saturday evening. Drivers will either pay their tolls by E-Z Pass or will get a bill in the mail from now on, thanks to high-tech cameras placed near Exit 10 in South Nyack. The toll-takers are relocating to either Yonkers, New Rochelle or Harriman.
