Westport Holds Event In Response To "White Lives Matter" Fliers WESTPORT, Conn. -- Westport will hold a community conversation Sunday in response to the "White Lives Matter" fliers found outside homes last week. The fliers are a single sheet folded into fours with the message #White Lives Matter, and were found outside homes in Westport last Thursday and Friday. Police: Norwalk Man Driving Drunk With Machete Threatened Officer NORWALK, Conn. -- A Norwalk man arrested on drunken driving charges had a machete in his car and later threatened to cut an officer's head off, according to police reports. William Gaviria, 59, was charged with having weapons in a motor vehicle, operation while under the influence, second-degree threatening, failure to carry registration/insurance ID card, and mutilated plate. Darien Police Warn Of Increased Coyote Sightings DARIEN, Conn. -- Darien police have received numerous reports of coyotes in the area and are offering tips to residents on how they can stay safe. Police said residents have reported coyote sightings and some attacks on pets. Ridgefield Students Pen Books Inspired By Scientific Research RIDGEFIELD, Conn. – Ridgefield High School juniors Jennifer Schwartz, John Diorio and Alexandra DiGiacomo were so inspired by their experience in the school’s Science Research program that they have self-published books about their experience and research topics. No One Was In Danger During Westport Temple Israel Incident, President Says WESTPORT, Conn. -- The president of Temple Israel in Westport called it "extremely disturbing" but said "fortunately, no one was in danger" after two unarmed men attempted to disrupt a luncheon Tuesday for Friends of the Israel Defense Forces. Police: Norwalk Man Tried To Escape Hospital, Fight Doctors NORWALK, Conn. -- A Norwalk man was arrested Monday after police said he tried to escape from Norwalk Hospital and then proceeded to shout racial slurs and profanity at staff. Two Men Injured In South Norwalk Drive-By Shooting NORWALK, Conn. -- Two men were injured in a drive-by shooting in South Norwalk late Monday night, police said. The shooting occurred in the area of South Main Street and Raymond Street shortly before 11 p.m. Monday, police said. I-95 Resurfacing To Impact Overnight Traffic In Darien DARIEN, Conn. -- Resurfacing work on I-95 in Darien and Norwalk will impact evening and overnight traffic in Darien, according to police. The state Department of Transportation will commence resurfacing of the highway in both the northbound and southbound directions starting Monday night.
