As temperatures hover around freezing Tuesday morning, melting snow will refreeze and could cause areas of black ice on roads across the area, the National Weather Service said.

Motorists should especially beware on untreated or elevated surfaces because road conditions could change rapidly. Drivers should slow down as a precautionary measure. Pedestrians should also be careful on walkways and steps.

The area is blanketed by snow from the weekend Nor'easter.

Tuesday will dawn partly sunny, but there is a chance of showers, mainly after 3 p.m., with a high near 41 degrees.

There is a chance for snow showers Tuesday night into Wednesday and a possible new storm on Friday.
