Wiffle Ball Hits The Big Leagues At National Toy Hall Of Fame Wiffle Ball, created and manufactured in Fairfield County, finally knocked one out of the park, winning a coveted spot in the National Toy Hall of Fame. The time-honored plaything — made in Shelton, Conn. since 1953 — joins paper airplanes and the board game Clue in the hall’s Class of 2017. The new group was inducted into the Rochester-based hall, taking their place alongside previous honorees such as the dollhouse, jump rope and the Radio Flyer wagon. Have You Seen It? Shelton Police Seek Jeep In Hit & Run That Closed Street SHELTON, Conn. — Police are seeking the public’s help in finding a Jeep that downed a telephone pole containing PCB material, leaving Poplar Drive closed since Nov. 5. Around 6 a.m. that day, Shelton officers responded to Poplar and Suren drives on a report of a hit-and-run accident, police said. Officers found the pole securing a transformer containing PCB material down across Poplar. They also noticed a fire hydrant had been struck. Beardsley Zoo Celebrates Student Winners In Scarecrows On Parade BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — Creative kids let their imaginations soar in the Beardsley Zoo’s annual Scarecrows on Parade with two Fairfield County schools taking top honors. Fairfield Elects A Mix To RTM Boards of Education, Finance And More FAIRFIELD, Conn. — Voters in Fairfield decided seats on the Representative Town Meeting, the Board of Finance, the Board of Education the Planning and Zoning Commission, the Board of Assessment Appeals and more in Tuesday's election.
