Teens To Keep Up Conservation Work At Beardsley Zoo Thanks To $10K Grant BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — The Beardsley Zoo’s Conservation Discovery Corps will continue its programming for teens thanks to a $10,000 grant from People’s United Community Foundation. The grant from the charitable giving arm of People’s United Bank supports the zoo’s program. It is designed for high school students to work alongside field biologists and study the role of zoos in conservation and education. Police: Masked Man Breaks Into Fairfield CVS, Can't Get Past The Foyer FAIRFIELD, Conn. — A masked man tried to break into a Fairfield CVS early Sunday, but he couldn’t get past the foyer, police said. Surveillance video shows the black-clad would-be burglar breaking the front glass door at the CVS on Black Rock Turnpike near Jennings Road around 4:20 a.m., but it appeared he could not get any farther and left, police said. A K-9 unit brought to the scene was unable to track the person, police said.

Two Fairfield U. Students Face Drug Charges For Smoking Pot In Dorm Room FAIRFIELD, Conn. — Two Fairfield University students were arrested Friday after campus security found three teens smoking marijuana in a dorm room around 11 p.m., police said. Henry Martin, 19, of Marblehead, Mass., and Stephen Millerick, 19, of Waltham, Mass., were each charged with possession of a controlled substance or more than a half-ounce of marijuana and use and possession of drug paraphernalia, police said. Watches, Jewelry, Credit Cards Stolen In Fairfield Burglary FAIRFIELD, Conn. — Watches, jewelry and credit cards went missing in a Fairfield burglary Friday, police said. A North Benson Road homeowner who reported the crime told officers it looked like the burglar forced a kitchen window to get into the home sometime between 9:30 a.m. and 7:15 p.m., police said. Police: Woman and Knife-Wielding Man Refuse To Leave Fairfield Pub FAIRFIELD, Conn. — A man and a woman were arrested early Saturday when they refused to leave a Post Road pub and he pulled out a folding knife and threatened to kill employees, police said.
