Nyack's Oldest House Is Reclaimed In Complex Negotiation
NYACK, N.Y. – Nyack will reclaim its oldest Dutch sandstone house following a complicated negotiation between Ocwen Loan Servicing LLC, a Division of Ocwen Financial Corporation (NYSE:OCN), the trust they represent, and local activists who run a non-profit group, the John Green Preservation Coalition.
The 1817 house at 23 Main Street, just north of the Tappan Zee Bridge, has been donated to an historic preservation coalition, a nearly unprecedented transaction for a “zombie” house.

Longtime Incumbent Facing Strong Challenge In Clarkstown Supervisor Race
CLARKSTOWN – For the first time since 2004, Town Supervisor Alex Gromack, the six-term Democrat, is faced with his first serious challenge. Town board member George Hoehmann, a Republican, does not have Gromack's war chest, but he's putting up a rousing fight.
Hoehmann, who has been on the town board since 2009, says “it’s time for a change.”
The 49-year-old candidate is promising tax relief, debt reduction and a top-to-bottom review of Town Hall. He says there is a need for an ethics overhaul.

Haitian President Visits Spring Valley
SPRING VALLEY, N.Y. -- Haitian President Michel Martelly riveted a packed crowd of onlookers at Spring Valley Village Hall recently when he spoke of hope and cooperation.
Afterward he inspired hundreds gathered at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in the village, which has a large Haitian population.
