Trapped Driver Found Unconscious, Airlifted After SUV Strikes Tree In Hunterdon County: Police

A 24-year-old driver was found unconscious, extricated, and flown to a nearby trauma center after crashing into a tree in Hunterdon County on Sunday evening, May 21, authorities said.

The Whitehouse Rescue squad responded to the crash on Readington Road near Shepherds Lane just after 6:40 p.m., Readington Township Police said.

The squad extricated the unconscious driver, a 24-year-old man, from the vehicle before taking him via ambulance to Solberg Airport, where an NJSP NorthStar medical helicopter flew him to RWJ New Brunswick Trauma Center for treatment of severe injuries.

The Readington Volunteer Fire Company and Hunterdon Medical Center paramedics also assisted.

The cause of the crash remained under investigation.
