A 36-year-old Toms River woman lost control of her car and plowed into another stopped car while toppling a traffic signal, authorities said. A dump truck overturned closing all southbound lanes of Interstate 287 in Central Jersey in a multiple-vehicle crash, authorities said. The crash occurred at 2:06 p.m. on Wednesday, May 17 at milepost 1 in Metuchen, according to Sgt. Philip Curry, a spokesman for the the New Jersey State Police. Multiple vehicles were involved in the crash including a dump truck that overturned and spilled dirt across the roadway, Curry said. No serious injuries were reported and I-287 was re-opened approximately 2.5 hours after the crash occurred, he said.

U-Haul Lands On Concrete Barrier Along NJ Turnpike: State Police
An SUV towing a U-Haul trailer lost control and landed on top of a concrete barrier along the New Jersey Turnpike, authorities said. The crash occurred at 6:48 a.m. on Wednesday, May 17 on the outer roadway southbound at milepost 85.6 in Edison, according to New Jersey State Police. Based on preliminary information, a Toyota Tacoma towing a U-Haul trailer lost control and struck the concrete divider coming to a rest on top of the barrier, State Police said. The driver reported a minor injury but refused medical attention, police said.

Tractor-Trailer Fire Jams Up New Jersey Turnpike
A tractor-trailer caught fire along the New Jersey Turnpike, authorities said. The fire occurred shortly before 5 p.m on Tuesday, May 16 on the NJ Turnpike Outer Roadway northbound North of Interchange 8A (Route 32) in South Brunswick, according to the New Jersey Department of Transportation. The truck was in the construction area between the inner and outer roadways, but the fire was causing delays, 511nj.org reported.

Chicken Waste Spill Causes HazMat Situation Along South Jersey Highway
A trailer hauling chicken waste products crashed, spilling its contents all over Route 55 and causing a HazMat situation in Gloucester County on Monday, Feb. 27. The northbound side of the roadway was closed in Deptford from mile marker 59.2 to the Route 42 interchange following the 9 a.m. crash. The roadway had reopened as of 1:45 p.m., but crews were still on scene for cleanup. HazMat crews, the New Jersey State Police, NJDOT, and multiple fire departments were on scene. Environmental services were notified and were monitoring the incident. No injuries were reported.
