DUTCHESS COUNTY, N.Y. -  A woman found dead inside an apartment complex on Thursday has been identified, said Town of Poughkeepsie police. Jill Meltzer, 49, was found after police received a call about 4:50 p.m. for a welfare check at the Hudson Harbour Apartments on South Road, said Lt. Gary Hulbert. When officers arrived they found a man inside the apartment, as well Meltzer, Hulbert said. According to Hulbert, the unidentified man, who is being held, and Meltzer were acquaintances. Police Ask Public's Help In Search For Clarkstown Larceny Suspect ROCKLAND COUNTY, N.Y. -- Clarkstown Police are asking the public for help in locating a man who was recently seen on surveillance camera peering into vehicles in Bardonia, and then breaking the windows on several vehicles and stealing items.The man, who was seen in the area of South Cranford and Dustman Lane, broke the passenger side windows on several vehicles and stole cash and other valuables, Clarkstown Police said. Monsey Home Office Fire Quickly Contained ROCKLAND COUNTY, N.Y. --  Monsey firefighters from the Brewer Fire Engine Company were able to knock-down a small house fire Friday within minutes on Albert Drive. Monsey Fire Chief Tony Layman said the fire started around 9:30 a.m. in the home office on the bottom floor of the single-family home at 45 Albert Drive.  Firefighters arrived on scene to find smoke billowing from the small office, Layman said.  Within minutes the fire was extinguished and the fire was contained to the single room, he added.
