The 23-year-old driver from Westwood was taken to New Bridge Medical Center for treatment and a blood test after the 12:17 a.m. crash near the corner of Calvin Street, Police Chief Glenn Hooper said.

The vehicle was headed eastbound when it hit the first pole, which shattered, Hooper said.

The pressure of the wires then snapped the second pole, he said.

An investigation was continuing as utility crews worked to repair the damage.
