Fundraiser Launched After Rahway Motorcyclist, 32, Killed In Clark Crash A 32-year-old Rahway man was killed after his motorcycle was struck by a vehicle in Clark Township on Tuesday, July 16, authorities said. At 7:55 p.m., Justin Almenas was riding his motorcycle westbound on Madison Hill Road, when it collided with a Honda Accord that was making a left turn from Adams Street, Clark Township police said in a release. Almenas was taken to University Hospital in Newark, where he was pronounced dead, police said. Scooterist Fatally Struck By Vehicle In Newark: Prosecutor A 63-year-old Elizabeth man was killed after he was struck by a vehicle while riding a scooter on Monday, July 15 in Newark, authorities said. At 5:25 p.m., Kenneth Roy William was riding a motorized scooter when it collided with a 2016 Jeep at Frelinghuysen Avenue and Carrington Street, a spokesman for the Essex County Prosecutor's Office said. Rapper Found With High-Capacity Magazine After Pointing Gun At Victims In Bayonne: Cops A Bayonne rapper with a large following on social media was arrested on Friday, July 12 and charged with pointing a gun at two people earlier this month, authorities said. Officers responded to a parking lot by Grove Street on a report of strong-arm robbery, Montclair police said. Popular Chicken Joint Replacing Pep Boys In South Jersey Town A popular chicken fingers joint is coming to Gloucester County. Raising Cane's, which has over 600 locations, will be opening soon in Washington Township at the site of a former Pep Boy's at Black Horse Pike near Ganttown Road. Demolition crews are at the site demolishing the old Pep Boys building, Washington Township police said. Harmful Algae Bloom Halts Paddle Boating In Somerset County Park Paddle boating has been put on hold due to the presence of harmful age blooms in a Somerset County park, authorities said. The Somerset County Park Commission said paddle boats are closed until further notice at Powder Mill Pond in Colonial Park. Exposure to harmful algae blooms can cause various illnesses including vomiting, diarrhea, confusion, seizures, permanent short term memory loss, or death, when consumed at high levels, according to the National Institute of Environmental Health Science. There is no timetable for when paddle boating will resume.

Three-Alarm Fire Displaces 49 In Newark, Authorities Say A three-alarm fire injured three firefighters and displaced 49 people in Newark on the afternoon of Tuesday, July 16, authorities said. At 12:14 p.m., firefighters responded to 263 South Orange Ave. for a fire, Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé said.
