Serious Crash, Tractor-Trailer Fire Reported In Central Jersey
There was a serious crash in Central Jersey, authorities said. A tractor-trailer also was reported on fire at the location of the crash, they said. The crash occurred at about 12:40 p.m. on Monday, May 1 on Route 440 in Woodbridge, according to the New Jersey Department of Transportation. The crash occurred in the northbound lanes south of Route 9 and the Garden State Parkway, the DOT said. An unconfirmed report said there was a fatality. CHECK BACK FOR UPDATES

A dozen fire companies from Central Jersey knocked down a fire that spread from four vehicles to a nearby business. On Tuesday, Aug. 2, at 09:19 a.m., Middlesex Police Lt. Thomas Falk observed heavy black smoke and found a vehicle on fire at 4 Smalley Ave., police said. Driver Killed In Fiery I-295 South Jersey Crash: State Police
A driver was killed after his car caught fire on Interstate 295 in Salem County, authorities said. The crash occurred at 10:29 p.m. on Sunday, April 24 southbound near milepost 5.6 in Carneys Point Township, according to State Police. A black Honda left the roadway and struck a tree, police said. The Honda became engulfed in flames and the driver sustained fatal injuries, police said. No one else was in the car. The driver's identity had not been determined as of Monday morning.

A car went up in flames on the New Jersey Turnpike Thursday afternoon, causing a shutdown of one lane, state police said. Troopers responded to a report of a smoking car that quickly caught fire in the northbound lanes on the inner roadway near milepost 61.9 in Robbinsville Township just before 1:45 p.m., NJSP spokesperson Brandi Slota told DailyVoice.com. HERO: A passing tow truck driver helped a motorist from his burning car on the New Jersey Turnpike seconds before it was engulfed in flames. Nick's Towing Service driver John Tashian of Paramus was returning from a job in Newark when he saw the burning vehicle just off the road in Kearny at 2:15 a.m. Sunday, said his boss, Nicholas F. A 25-year-old Jersey Shore driver died in a Morris County crash Saturday, authorities said. Stephanie Santora, of Jackson, was behind the wheel of an unknown vehicle that was struck by a truck pulling a utility trailer east in the left lane of Route 24 near mile post 5.7 at 12:22 p.m., NJSP Sgt. 21 Vehicles Destroyed In North Jersey Fire
Live wires temporarily kept firefighters from dousing flames that destroyed 21 vehicles on a lot off Broad Avenue in Ridgefield. A wire downed in Thursday night's storm ignited two vehicles in the depot, filled with hundreds of new vehicles, next to Metro Fuel on Hudson Avenue near H Mart, authorities said.
