Toms River Crash Shuts Down Route 9 In Both Directions
A vehicle crash shut down both directions of Route 9 in Toms River for at least an hour, officials said. Route 9 closed at around 3:15 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 23, according to the state Department of Transportation (NJDOT). Traffic was blocked between Church and Cox Cro roads as first responders and investigators stayed at the crash scene. There was no word of how many vehicles were involved and if there were any injuries. The NJDOT said the crash caused about a 15-minute delay for drivers.

Passenger Killed In Route 35 Crash
Authorities are investigating a fatal weekend crash in Sayreville. ALSO SEE: Police ID passenger killed in crash. The crash occurred at about 5 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 28, on Route 35 southbound near Fred's Bait & Tackle. A rear-seat passenger of the vehicle was killed on impact, according to the Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office. An earlier statement from the prosecutor's office incorrectly said the driver was killed. The driver and another passenger were hospitalized and were being treated for serious injuries. Traffic was detoured down Route 9 south, Sayreville police said.

A New Jersey State trooper escaped serious injury after veering off Interstate 195 in Monmouth County and colliding with multiple trees, authorities said.
