Murder-suicide: Cops ID Couple Found Dead In Jersey Shore Home

A husband killed his wife in a murder-suicide in their Monmouth County home, authorities said.

The bodies of 37-year-old Ekaterina Kalyapina and 39-year-old Ilya Gagin were found in a house on Chingarora Avenue on Tuesday, Mar. 19. Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond Santiago announced an update in the investigation in a news release on Monday, Mar. 25.

The Middlesex County Medical Examiner’s Office conducted autopsies on the couple. Kalyapina's cause of death was ruled a homicide and Gagin's cause of death was ruled a suicide.

Two small dogs were found unharmed inside the home. The Monmouth County SPCA responded and took in the dogs.
