The death of Milford resident Daniel McCool, 38, has been ruled a suicide by the state chief medical examiner's office, according to the Post. Poughkeepsie Man Accused Of Smuggling Drugs Into Dutchess County Jail POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- A Poughkeepsie man has been arrested on charges of trying to smuggle drugs into the Dutchess County Jail, the county Sheriff's Office said. William S. Smart, 59, of Poughkeepsie, was arrested about 12:45 p.m. Tuesday, authorities said. Sheriff's deputies were contacted to respond to the jail for a report of a visitor who was found with contraband. Beekman Leads Dutchess As First Purple Heart Community BEEKMAN, N.Y. -- The town of Beekman has become a Purple Heart community, the first town in Dutchess County to be a part of the Military Order of the Purple Heart Foundation. Earlier this year Beekman honored its Purple Heart recipients by making the town a Purple Heart Community, recognizing the service of Beekman’s natives during times of war.  Signs designating Beekman a Purple Heart Community have been placed at every entry point into the town.
