A 19-year-old man was killed and an older man wounded in a hail of gunfire in a Paterson neighborhood that has seen more than its share of shootings. How many shooters were involved in the latest incident on Putnam Street near Rosa Parks Boulevard shortly before 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 23, wasn't immediately clear. Paterson detectives were in the middle of a drug investigation when one of them saw a group of assailants armed with handguns suddenly open fire on another group on a city street corner. Judge Refuses To Release Newark Defendant Charged With Shooting Jersey Shore Man In Paterson
A state judge refused to release a defendant from Newark who was captured in New York City and charged with shooting a Jersey Shore man following a robbery in Paterson. The 27-year-old Sea Bright victim was shot near the corner of Putnam Street and Rosa Parks Boulevard on Jan. 8, 2021. He sought treatment at Riverside Medical Center in Red Bank without telling city police, Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Paterson Police Chief Ibrahim Baycora said in a joint release. Man Shot In Paterson Robbery Seeks Treatment At Jersey Shore Hospital
A Monmouth County man who was shot during a robbery in Paterson showed up at a hospital in Red Bank, authorities said. The 27-year-old victim from Sea Bright sought treatment at Hackensack Meridian Health Riverview Medical Center around 11 a.m. Friday, Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Paterson Police Chief Ibrahim Baycora said in a release Saturday. He’d been shot by a robber near the corner of Putnam Street and Rosa Parks Boulevard, nearly 60 miles away, they said. Paterson Man Charged In 2019 Shooting
Detectives charged a 22-year-old Paterson man with a shooting five months ago. Alex Nieves was charged with attempted murder, resisting arrest and weapons offenses following his arrest by city police Friday, authorities said. The 28-year-old victim was hospitalized after being struck by gunfire on Rosa Parks Boulevard between Putnam and Lyon streets the morning of Dec. 5, 2019. Detectives identified Nieves as the shooter. They stopped his car Friday night on Totowa Avenue in Paterson, but he kept driving, crashing in the area of East Main Street, before police seized him.
