Passenger Killed, Driver Seriously Injured In Route 80 Crash
A 38-year-old passenger was killed and the driver seriously injured in an overnight crash on Route 80, authorities confirmed.
Richard Bahamonte of Hillside was pronounced dead at the scene of the eastbound crash near the Teaneck/Ridgefield Park border west of Exit 68 just after 3 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 24, NJ State Police said.
The driver, Julio Brito, 40, of Hasbrouck Heights, lost control of the Honda, which careened off the road, slammed into a concrete barrier and ended up on its roof, they said.
State Police and medics from Holy Name Medical Center tried to resuscitate both occupants.

Honda, Acura Recalling 2.5M Vehicles For Defective Fuel Pumps That Can Cause Stalling
More than two million Honda and Acura vehicles are being subject to a national recall due to fuel pumps that could be defective and cause engines to stall while driving.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced that upwards of 2.5 million vehicles are subject to the recall, which covers a host of different makes and models.

Honda Recalling Nearly 250K Vehicles Due To Engine Concerns
Honda is recalling nearly 250,000 vehicles due to damaged engines that can run improperly or stall while driving, increasing the risk of a fire, crash, or injury.
This week, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced that 248,999 vehicles have been subject to the recall, which spans several years and different model types.
According to officials, due to a manufacturing error, "the connecting rod bearing in the engine may wear and seize, damaging the engine."

Morris Plains Driver, 22, Killed In I-295 Crash
A 22-year-old driver was killed in a crash on I-295 early Sunday, Oct. 8, police said.
Cameron Boyle, of Morris Plains, was heading north in a Honda when he lost directional control and ran off the roadway to the right, hitting a tree and concrete bridge support, New Jersey State Police Detective I Jeffrey Lebron said.
It happened at 3:44 a.m. on the northbound side, at milepost 63 in Hamilton Township, police said.
Boyle died in the accident, which remains under investigation.

A Ridgewood driver was drunk when his SUV hit two parked vehicles and landed on its side in Glen Rock, authorities said.
Jason R. Romine, 40, was rescued through the moon roof of his 2002 Ford Expedition by Glen Rock Police Officer T. J. Graziani following the crash at the T intersection of Rock and Midwood roads shortly before 10:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 18, Police Chief Dean Ackermann said.
