Attempted Murder: Somerset County Man Indicted In Chase With Police Lieutenant
A Somerset County man has been indicted on charges for first-degree attempted murder and other offenses following a June police chase with a local lieutenant, authorities announced Thursday, Sept. 21.
Brian A. Niziolek, 37, of Fairview Avenue in Somerville, was charged with first-degree attempted murder, second- and third-degree aggravated assault, second-degree eluding, second-degree burglary, resisting arrest, motor vehicle theft, and various weapons offenses following the police pursuit in Manville on Thursday, June 29, Somerset County Prosecutor John P. ‘He Knew Nothing But Love:’ Myles Fitzpatrick Of Somerset County Dies, 17
Beloved brother and Somerset County native Myles A. Fitzpatrick died on Monday, Nov. 7. He was 17.
Myles, of Manville, “knew nothing but love” and was known for his ability to spread happiness and joy wherever he went, despite handling obstacles of his own, his memorial says.
“When Myles was younger, we didn’t know he was going to be our son, so we called him our daughter and sister,” reads his obituary.
Loved by many, Myles had an incredible sense of humor — and an unmatched ability to show off his “mosquito twerk” skills on the dance floor.

Victim Beat Dead By Man Helping Him Move In Central Jersey: Prosecutor
A 50-year-old man was assaulted and killed in a Central Jersey driveway by a man helping him move, authorities said.
Samuel C. Coggins, 30, of Flemington, has been charged with murder in the death of Augustine Garcia, of Manville, Thursday, July 14, Somerset County Prosecutor John P. McDonald said.
Coggins was helping Garcia and another resident move from a home on North 12th Avenue in Manville when Coggins assaulted Garcia in the driveway just before 3 p.m., Mcdonald said.
Garcia was found unresponsive with a severe head injury outside the home, and Coggins remained at the scene…
Luis Hernandez III Of Somerset County Leaves Behind Wife, Children
A 33-year-old Somerset County dad died on Oct. 22.
Luis Anthony Hernandez III, of Manville, leaves behind his wife, Salina Salas, and two children, according to his obituary.
Hernandez graduated from Montgomery High school in 2006 and had been working as a prosthetics technician at Mobility Ideal Health Care in Edison.
He is also survived by his mother, Maria Monteagudo, and his siblings Crystal, Haydee, and Anthony Hernandez.
A cause of death was not released.
Services were held at the Bruce C. VanArsdale Funeral Home in Somerville. Cremation was private.

A pair of men from New York and South Carolina were arrested for their roles in leading a high-speed police pursuit in a stolen car across Somerset County earlier this week, authorities said Wednesday.
