New Jersey is well-represented in brand-new rankings of the nation's best high schools. US News & World report released its annual list on Tuesday morning, April 23. The rankings were determined by performance on state-required tests, graduation, and how well they prepare students for college. Ziyare Palmer, of Perth Amboy, Charged With Attempted Murder
A 24-year-old man has been arrested for slashing a man and cutting off some of his fingers during an attack under the Victory Bridge in Perth Amboy, authorities said. Ziyare Palmer, of Perth Amboy, was charged with attempted murder, weapons offenses and motor vehicle theft in what Perth Amboy police described as a domestic violence assault. Palmer attacked a 39-year-old Woodbridge man at about 11:15 p.m. on April 14, police said. The victim was yelling for help when police arrived. Liliya Rosenblum, 34, Killed Garden State Parkway
A 34-year-old woman from Pennsylvania walking along the Garden State Parkway in Middlesex County, NJ, was struck and killed by a pickup truck, authorities said. Liliya Rosenblum was struck by the Chevrolet pickup at about 4:50 a.m. on Sunday, April 14, in the southbound left lane near milepost 130.2 in Woodbridge, New Jersey State Police said. Rosenblum, of Newville, Pennsylvania, was pronounced dead at the scene, State Police said. The crash remains under investigation.

Woman Strikes Telephone Pole, Killed In Route 35 Crash In Woodbridge: Police
A 67-year-old woman was killed after she suffered a medical emergency and ran into a telephone pole in the Colonie section of Woodbridge, authorities said. Barbara Czyzewska, of Aberdeen, was southbound on Route 35 (St. George's Avenue) at about 10:40 a.m. Friday, March 22 when she lost control of her Subaru, Woodbridge police said. She was taken to Rahway Hospital where she was pronounced dead, police said. There were no passengers in the Subaru.

A pit bull that mauled a 3-month-old boy on Saturday, March 9 in Woodbridge has been euthanized by a veterinarian, authorities said. The parents of the infant who was attacked and killed, meanwhile, were released from an area hospital later Saturday, the Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office said on Monday, March 11. The attack took place at about 6:15 a.m. at a home on Mereline Avenue in the Avenel section of town. The investigation remains ongoing. A South Carolina man who killed a clerk at a gas station in Edison during an armed robbery in 2018 has been sentenced to life in prison without parole for first-degree murder, authorities said. Marcus A. Wright, 27, of Beaufort, SC, fatally shot the Speedway worker on Dec. 20, 2018, on Amboy Avenue, according to Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone. An 82-year-old driver was killed in a wrong-way. crash on Route 1 in Woodbridge, authorities said. Richard Becker, of East Brunswick, was driving south in the northbound lanes near Ford Avenue when he struck another car at 9:45 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 17, Woodbridge police said.
