Phil Murphy declared a State of Emergency in the late afternoon, as rain continued falling, leaving drivers trapped in flood waters across the state. Dunderhook Road at Paramus Road in Paramus remained closed due to flooding, leading the borough's Office of Emergency Management to urge an evacuation of the area late Friday afternoon. Crash With Injuries Closes Route 1 In Edison
A crash with injuries closed Route 1 in Central Jersey, authorities said. The crash occurred at about 8:10 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 29 southbound South of Plainfield Avenue in Edison Township, according to the New Jersey Department of Transportation. Route 1 had been reopened by 9:30 a.m., according to Edison Police Deputy Chief Robert Dudash Jr. There were no life-threatening injuries, he said.

A crash caused delays on the Garden State Parkway, authorities said. Troopers responded to the crash at 6:04 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 27 on the Garden State Parkway north at milepost 115.6 in Holmdel Township, according to Detective I Jeffrey Lebron, a New Jersey State Police spokesman. Troopers responded to the single-vehicle crash at 6:26 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 26 on the Turnpike Interchange 11 ramp to the southbound Parkway in Woodbridge Township, New Jersey State Police said. A New York man died in a fiery crash that closed the New Jersey Turnpike Saturday morning, July 22, police said. Henry Subin, 77, of Katonah, NY, was heading north in a Jeep Grand Cherokee when he struck the concrete barrier of the toll plaza, overturned, and became fully engulfed in flames around 9:45 a.m. in Carneys Point.
