A 2.6 aftershock was recorded in Somerset County on Wednesday, April 10, according to the United States Geological Survey. The earthquake was recorded 5 km southwest of Gladstone, with more than 430 people telling the USGS they could feel something shaking.  The aftershocks come in the wake of a 4.8 earthquake that originated in Whitehouse Station and shook up the Northeast. The initial earthquake had a magnitude of 4.8 and was reported in Whitehouse Station at 10:23 a.m. Friday, April 5. Tremors were felt by more than four million people from Maryland to New Hampshire. The first aftershock was reported just under an hour later at 11:20 a.m. 6 km NNE of Whitehouse Station with a magnitude of 2.0. The largest aftershock had a 4.0 magnitude and happened just before 6 p.m. Friday, April 5. Kathryn Shern, 70, and Charles Shern, 71, were found dead of gunshot wounds inside the fire-damaged Whitehouse Station home on Sunday, July 3. He was 26. Born in New Brunswick, Edelstein played lacrosse and ice hockey at Hunterdon Central High School, where he graduated in 2013, his obituary says. Weekend Dispute At Route 22 Motel Turns Physical A 22-year-old man was charged in a dispute that turned physical at a Route 22 motel over the weekend, police said.  Zachary Welz began arguing with Vikram Talwar, 61, outside their rooms at the Siesta Motel in Whitehouse Station just after 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Readington Township police said. Welz punched Talwar several times in the face and was later arrested and charged with simple assault, police said. He was released pending an appearance in court.
