Garden State Parkway Crash Causes Two-Mile Backup In Ocean County
A crash on the Garden State Parkway had traffic backed up for more than two miles in Brick Township in the afternoon on Friday, Jan. 12. The NJDOT says the crash happened southbound on the parkway near exit 91 B-A just before 3:30 p.m. Two lanes of traffic were closed as crews responded to the scene. It occurred at about 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 3 on the outer roadway northbound North of Interchange 9 (Route 18) in Edison Township, according to the New Jersey Turnpike Authority. A tractor-trailer got stuck under a bridge in South Brunswick, tying up traffic for hours, authorities said. A victim was in traumatic arrest after being ejected in a rollover evening rush-hour crash at the northern end of the Garden State Parkway, responders said. Pedestrians were struck by a vehicle on the Jersey Shore, authorities said. The crash occurred about noon on Thursday, Sept. 8 on Route 36 near Palmer Avenue in Hazlet, according to the state Department of Transporation. Box Truck Spins, Lands On Route 287 At State Line
A box truck ended up on the median on Route 287, clogging post-Labor Day traffic at the state line, authorities said. No injuries were reported in the mishap in Mahwah shortly before 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 6. Three men were in the truck, which apparently was carrying exercise equipment for a Brooklyn-based freight company when it spun around in the rain and hit the divider. Police, firefighters and EMS crews responded to a report of a tractor-trailer reportedly flipped on its side, authorities said. Community Support Grows For 54-Year-Old Woman Killed Walking Along Route 1 In Mercer County
There has been an outpouring of community support for a 54-year-old woman from Mercer County reportedly killed by a hit-and-run driver as she walked along Route 1. Maria Angélica Moran Moreira, 54, of Lawrenceville, was hit by a northbound vehicle about 6:30 a.m. Monday near Bakers Basin Road in Lawrence Township, police said. Moreira was pronounced dead at the scene after a passing motorist who saw a woman lying on the highway called 9-1-1, reports said.
