SWAT team members ended a standoff of more than five hours when they subdued a knife-wielding man who’d barricaded himself in his mother’s River Edge apartment. A construction worker by trade, the man had been living in shelters in New York City before recently moving in with his mother at the Oxford Terrace Apartments. Two People Critically Wounded In South Jersey Shooting
Two people are in critical condition after a shooting in South Jersey, authorities said. Bridgeton police responded to a home on Bank Street around 9:15 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 1 for a shooting. Police officers found two Bridgeton men, 33 and 39, suffering from gunshot wounds. Both victims were airlifted by medical helicopter to Cooper University Hospital, Camden, for treatment. The shooting came three days after another shooting that left one person dead and another injured in Bridgeton.

A probable tornado touched down in South Jersey early Thursday, June 9, according to the National Weather Service. Trees fell on several homes in Camden County due to strong winds, authorities said. Police, EMS crews and other first responders were called on a report of "multiple shootings" on the Jersey Shore, authorities said.
