Three schools in Westchester made it into Niche.com's Top 10: Rye’s School of the Holy Child (No. 5), The Ursuline School in New Rochelle (No. 9), and Iona Preparatory School, K-12 (No. 10). United Way 'Day Of Sharing' To Provide Basics For Dutchess Organizations POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y.  -- A pair of purple-and-white curtains seems like such a mundane thing, but to one little girl, it meant the world, say the United Way folks based in Poughkeepsie. The curtains were among $100,000 worth of stuff that the agency handed out last year through its Day of Sharing program. The program allows nonprofits, churches, and schools that serve the needy in Dutchess and Orange counties to collect clothing, bedding and other household items for their clients. The Arlington Fire District and Mobile Life Support Services crews were told that the male victim, found in the bathroom of the Golden Corral at 2345 South Road, was “not alert,” according to fire Chief Tory G. Stanley E. Brose, 97, of Rhinebeck DUTCHESS COUNTY, N.Y. – Stanley E. Brose of Montgomery, a longtime Rhinebeck resident, died Thursday, Feb. 23. He was 97. Brose retired as president of Brose Off-Set Lithographic Corp. in Manhattan in 1983. He also was a member and a Master Mason at Pioneer Lodge 70 of Free and Accepted Masons in Hackensack, N.J.; a member of the New York Athletic Club in Manhattan, and the Oritani Field Club in Hackensack. Pair Chase Down Suspect In Nyack After Attempted Theft From Car, Police Say NYACK, N.Y. – A Nyack man has been accused of trying to steal items from an unlocked car in the village, Orangetown police said. The owner told police that he saw a man, identified as 34-year-old Zhoubin Yang, rummaging around in his vehicle on Franklin Street around 12:13 a.m. Saturday. The unidentified man and a friend chased Yang down and held him until police officers arrived. Yang was charged with attempted petit larceny, a misdemeanor, police said. He was released on an unidentified amount of bail and is to appear in Nyack Justice Court on Tuesday, March 14.
