Village Of Larchmont Named In Palmer Avenue Contractor Dispute Larchmont’s business district is looking a lot better these days after dozens of new trees were planted, lighting was improved and benches were installed for weary shoppers to rest on. It is also more accessible because of the sidewalk, curb cut and road improvements made as part of the village’s $2.7 million Palmer Avenue Streetscape project, which was completed last year. Ossining Students Gear Up For Robotics Competition OSSINING, N.Y. -- Ossining High School students have spent weeks tinkering with and tweaking the creations they hope will win them the chance to compete in a worldwide robotics competition. The team, which calls itself The Ossining O-bots, called on its members to use all their scientific, engineering, technology and math skills to make the robots it will enter in the Hudson Valley Regional (HVR) FIRST® competition next month. Top-Ranked College In New York Is Close To Westchester Columbia University has been chosen as the best college in New York state by niche.com, an internet ranking and review site. The private Ivy League school, based in upper Manhattan just about 17 miles south of Westchester County’s border, was established in 1754 at King’s College by Great Britain’s King George II. Robert William Hunt, 77, of Pawling PAWLING, N.Y. -- Pawling resident Robert William died on Sunday, Feb 19. He was 77. He was born in Mineola, on Nov. 1, 1939, to Lawrence M. and Gwendolyn R. (Wollard) Hunt. Hunt served in the U.S. Army, then in the Army Reserve. He was honorably discharged. Hunt worked as a horse trainer for more than two decades and was a horse racing enthusiast. He became a world traveler while working in the international horse transportation business. RYE, N.Y. -- Golfers, apparently teed off because tainted fungus killer messed up several months of play at a Rye-owned club, have sued the city, claiming negligence and breach of contract, lohud.com reported. Do You Know Him? Lost Dog Found In Lewisboro LEWISBORO, N.Y. -- A black Labrador retriever was found Tuesday afternoon on Kitchawan Road in Lewisboro, local police said in a Facebook post. The male dog didn’t have a collar, tags or microchip when he was found. He appears to be between one to three years old and looks healthy and well fed. The pooch was found around 2 p.m., just west of Mill River Road, and is being cared for by the folks at the South Salem Animal Hospital.
