Aunt, Nephew Charged In Fatal Shooting Of Irvington Man

Two Irvington residents have been charged in the shooting death of a 24-year-old township man, authorities said.

Lakirah Franklin Lewis, 22, and her nephew, Lawrence Lewis, 24, are accused of gunning down Daquan Smith on the 400 block of Grove Street just before 2 p.m. last Thursday, the Essex County Prosecutor's Office said.

Franklin Lewis and Lewis were charged with felony murder, robbery, conspiracy to commit murder and weapons offenses.

An ongoing investigation is being conducted by the Irvington Police Department and the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force.
