One Killed, Two Wounded In Newark Triple Shooting One person was killed and two others were injured in a triple shooting in Newark on the afternoon of Friday, April 19, authorities said. The shooting occurred at 5 p.m. on Avon Avenue, Thomas Fennelly, a spokesman for the Essex County Prosecutor's Office said.  Two of the victims were transported to a nearby hospital, while one declined medical attention, Fennelly said. The officer was hit but was able to return fire, striking the suspect, Fennelly aid.
