Newark Pair Convicted Of Murder In Drive-By Shooting: Prosecutors
Two Newark men were recently convicted for their roles in which one man was killed when a group of people were shot at in May 2019, authorities said.
Tymeer Gumbs, 25, and Isaiah Kane, 25, were in a stolen Dodge Durango when they pulled up to a group of men and started shooting at them at Maple and Chancellor Avenue in Newark, Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II said.
As the victims began to run, Gumbs exited the Durango and chased down Murad Harris, fatally shooting him in the back of the head, Stephens said.

Aunt, Nephew Charged In Fatal Shooting Of Irvington Man
Two Irvington residents have been charged in the shooting death of a 24-year-old township man, authorities said.
Lakirah Franklin Lewis, 22, and her nephew, Lawrence Lewis, 24, are accused of gunning down Daquan Smith on the 400 block of Grove Street just before 2 p.m. last Thursday, the Essex County Prosecutor's Office said.
Franklin Lewis and Lewis were charged with felony murder, robbery, conspiracy to commit murder and weapons offenses.
