16-Year-Old Cold Case Results In 2 Murder Arrests In Mercer County
Two men have been charged with murder in connection with a 2008 robbery and fatal beating, authorities said. Attorney General Matthew J. Platkin and Mercer County Prosecutor Angelo J. Onofri announced the cold case arrests on Monday, April 22 in connection with the death of Leroy Julious of Ewing Township. Breyon Goodman, 36, of Trenton, and Jason Howard, 41, are each charged with murder, felony murder and robbery, they said. Goodman was arrested in Trenton on April 15 by U.S. Marshals. Two crashes with injuries were reported on Interstate 295 in Mercer and Burlington counties, authorities said. The first crash occurred at about 3 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 14 on I-295 southbound south of Exit 75 (Bear Tavern Road) in Ewing Township, according to the New Jersey Department of Transportation. Based on a preliminary investigation a vehicle traveling south lost directional control and ran off the roadway, according to State Police. No injuries were reported, police said. Fire Destroys Home In Mercer County: Police
A fire destroyed a home in Lawrence Township, authorities said. On Friday, Jan. 26, at approximately 1:30 p.m., the Lawrence Township Police Department received a 9-1-1 call reporting smoke coming from 175 Johnson Ave in Eggerts Crossing Village. Police found a visible fire on the second floor of the home. The residents were not home. The fire was brought under control at about 2 p.m. There were no injuries, however the home sustained significant damage, police said. There was a fire at the faculty residence of The Lawrenceville School, a boarding and day school, on Monday, Jan. 22, authorities said. The fire broke out at about 11:50 a.m. on Humphrey Drive, Lawrenceville police said. Police ID Motorcyclist Killed In Weekend Crash In Mercer County
Police have identified the motorcyclist killed in a collision in Ewing Township. Theodore Condo, 57, of Ewing died in the crash on Saturday, Nov. 25, authorities said. At 4:54 p.m., Ewing police responded to a serious crash involving a vehicle and a motorcycle at Parkway Avenue and Walter Street in Ewing. Legionnaires’ Disease has been detected in the Trenton Water Works water supply, state authorities said. Seven people contracted the disease and two people have died since October 2022 in Mercer County, according to the New Jersey Department of Health. The 43-year-old gunman who killed three students and wounded five at Michigan State University before turning the gun on himself Monday, Feb. 13 appears to have New Jersey ties.
