Pedestrian Struck, Killed Crossing Street In Clifton CLIFTON, N.J. — A 46-year-old woman died Wednesday morning after being hit by a car while crossing River Road in Clifton, police said. The victim was hit while crossing River Road near Route 21 around 6:40 a.m., Detective Sgt. Robert Bracken said. The driver stopped and called 911 and the victim was transported to St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center, Bracken said. She was pronounced dead at 7:46 a.m. Clifton police and the Passaic County Prosecutor's Office continued to investigate but no charges were filed as of Wednesday morning, Bracken said. Clifton Man Accused In Double Stabbing Surrenders CLIFTON, N.J. — A Clifton man turned himself in to police after being accused in a Jan. 3 double stabbing, Detective Sgt. Robert Bracken said on Wednesday. Darin Barone, 18, turned himself in Tuesday afternoon, Bracken said. He was charged with two counts of aggravated assault and weapons possession after two men were stabbed in the arms during a dispute, Bracken said. Barone was held at Passaic County Jail on $35,000 bail, the detective sergeant said. His mother, Diane, was previously arrested for misleading police and failing to cooperate when authorities were looking for her son.
