SADDLE BROOK, N.J. — Jerry Gencarelli of Little Falls considers himself just as much a resident of Saddle Brook as his hometown after owning Frank's Pizzeria for more than 20 years. In many ways the Frank's in the Saddle Brook Mall remains the same since Gencarelli opened it in 1992. "I keep the same ingredients, I have the same food," Gencarelli told Daily Voice. MIDLAND PARK, N.J. — Midland Park business owners Mike Healy and Dave Lancaster had sports and each other as part of their lives long before starting at The Baseball Card Store in Prospect Street in 1989. The store opened around five years prior to their purchase, but for nearly three decades Lancaster and Healy worked together while surrounded by reminders of baseball's storied history. Mahwah Farm Teaches Environmental Lessons
MAHWAH, N.J. — Members of the Mahwah Environmental Volunteer Organization spent the past 10 months building a farm to feed and educate people. Campgaw Education Farm, a two-acre property in Mahwah, was donated to MEVO by Bergen County Parks Department, founder Eric Fuchs-Stengel said. The property on Campgaw road used to be camping grounds but Fuchs-Stengel has greater plans for it. "The farm is a labor of love," he told Daily Voice. Garfield Car Enthusiast Puts Auto On Display
GARFIELD, N.J. — Jhonny Marmolejos love of cars dates back to his childhood. The Garfield enthusiast's father built cars in the Dominican Republic. "That was pretty cool to me I guess and I did my own thing now," Marmolejos told Daily Voice. Marmolejos, 24, works in a body shop in Hackensack and started fixing up cars in high school. Saddle Brook Runner Competes For Fallen Friend
SADDLE BROOK, N.J. — Rob DeCarlo of Saddle Brook and Eddie Halperin competed together for Park Ridge High School's track team in the 1990s. Halperin will be with DeCarlo when he competes in is friend's honor in the 2017 Boston Marathon. Halperin died from pancreatic cancer in 2003.
