SWAT Standoff: Wildwood Man Barricaded Himself In House With Family, Police Say
A Cape May County man was arrested after barricading himself in a house with his family and threatening police in an hours-long standoff, authorities said.
Rakesh Patel, 47, of Wildwood, was charged with three counts of second-degree endangering the welfare of a child, third-degree terroristic threats, third-degree resisting arrest, third-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, fourth-degree unlawful possession of a weapon, and fourth-degree obstruction of justice. A 39-year-old Mays Landing man pleaded guilty to repeatedly sexually assaulting a girl and filming it, authorities said.
Christian R. Navarette of Mays Landing entered the pleas to aggravated sexual assault, sexual assault, and endangering the welfare of a child on Thursday, Aug. 19, according to the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office.

Three young children were locked in a hot car while their caretakers shopped at a New Jersey Walmart, authorities said.
Cyndie Jourdain and a 17-year-old female, both of Galloway Township, had been inside the Egg Harbor Township store for approximately 45 minutes by the time police rescued the three crying children on Wednesday, June 8, local police said.
Temps outside soared to 86 degrees, they said.
Police used a lockout kit to rescue the children, ages 3, 1, and 5 months, who were turned over to Egg Harbor Township EMS for treatment.

A woman who left her 4-year-old child alone in a car in a handicapped spot outside the Walmart in Garfield was jailed after kicking a police officer, authorities said.
Officer Marlene Martinez found the unattended youngster in a rear child seat, with the driver's side door unlocked, after not seeing a handicapped placard shortly after 8:30 a.m. Thursday, Capt. Richard Uram said.

Paterson Man, 46, Charged With Sexually Abusing Three Young Children
A Paterson man was charged with sexually abusing three different children going back more than a decade, authorities said.
One victim, now an adult, reported being abused at 11 years old by Richard Solis, 46, Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes said Wednesday.
Another, now 15, reported being sexually assaulted by Solis while only 5, the prosecutor said.
Solis also is accused of sexually abusing a 3 year old, she said.

Landscaper, 32, Sexually Abused North Jersey Pre-Teen, Authorities Charge
A landscaper sexually abused a Cliffside Park pre-teen, authorities charged.
Miguel Camey, 32, of the Bronx “engaged in sexual conduct with the child on multiple occasions,” Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella said Friday.
Detectives from his officer were tipped off by the state Division of Child Protection and Permanency, Musella said.
