Accused NJ Burglar Arrested In PA Traffic Stop: Police
A routine traffic stop led to two arrests in Bensalem, township police said in a release.
Officers stopped a Chevrolet Tahoe for a faulty brake light, a broken mirror, and a suspended registration on Saturday, April 13, authorities said.
Police said the driver, 33-year-old Brittany Dougherty of Philadelphia, was found to have a warrant for theft at a Bensalem Kohl's, a warrant for burglary in Camden, New Jersey, and a warrant for robbery out of Evesham, New Jersey.

Camden Man Gets 55 Years Prison For Fatal Shooting
A 21-year-old Camden City man has been sentenced to 55 years in New Jersey State Prison for killing a Philadelphia man, authorities said.
Antony Shields was sentenced on Friday, April 19, according to Camden County Prosecutor Grace C. MacAulay. He must serve 85 percent of the sentence before becoming eligible for parole.
On Jan. 30, 2024, a jury convicted Shields of first-degree Felony Murder, first-degree Aggravated Manslaughter, and second-degree Conspiracy to Commit Robbery in connection to the death of Alex Fernandez, also 21.

Camden's Chau Tran, 50, 'Beacon Of Love, Wisdom'
Chau Tran, of Camden, died peacefully on April 12, according to an obituary published by Bradley Funeral Home. She was 50 years old.
She was "a beacon of love and wisdom," according to her obituary.
"She shared an unbreakable bond with her devoted husband, Quyen Tang, and together they raised a daughter, Vy Vu, who embodies Chau's thoughtful nature and kindness," her obituary said.

UPDATE: A former New Jersey couple and a local businesswoman have admitted scamming more than 100 lonely hearts out of $4.5 million in an elaborate online romance scheme, federal authorities charged.
Martins Inalegwu, 35, took a deal from the government, pleading guilty in U.S. District Court in Camden on Monday, March 25 to conducting an unlawful money-transmitting business and evading taxes for four straight years.
Inalegwu's wife, Steincy Mathieu, 27, had already pleaded guilty to tax evasion last November.

Man With Special Needs Killed In Camden Fire, Campaign Says
A Camden family is mourning the loss of a loved one who died in a fire, according to a GoFundMe campaign.
Kwame Shawn Bryant was killed in the blaze at about 1 a.m. on Friday, March 8 in the 900 block of Newman Avenue, a Camden City spokesman confirmed. He was 35 years old.
"Shawn was born autistic with special needs," his sister, Patricia Bryant of Sicklerville, wrote on the GoFundMe page. "He loved all types of music, cooking, drawing and taking long drives."
It marked the third death of a Bryant family member in eight months, Patricia said.

Robbery Victim Dies 14 Months After Assault In Camden: Prosecutor
A Camden robbery victim has died 14 months after a vicious attack, authorities said.
Luis A. Santos, a city resident, died on Monday night, March 4, of injuries from a January 2023 assault, according to the Camden County Prosecutor's Office.
On Jan. 11, 2023, at approximately 9 p.m., Camden County police and EMS personnel responded to Baird Boulevard and Langham Avenue in Camden City for a report of an unconscious man.
Police found Santos who was taken to Cooper University Hospital for treatment. It was determined that Santos was assaulted and robbed, the prosecutor said.

Bernaldo Torres of Camden died suddenly on Friday, Feb. 23, according to an obituary published by Inglesby and Sons Funeral Home and a GoFundMe campaign. He was 45.
Better known as Bernie to his family and Bmac to his close friends, he was born in Philadelphia, his obituary said.

Four inches of snow at most was expected in the second snow storm of the week in New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
But much more fell.
In the Friday, Feb. 16 and Saturday, Feb. 17 storm, up to 13 inches of snow fell in some towns across the region, according to the National Weather Service.

Joel Luis Morales, a native of Camden, died on Feb. 1, according to an obituary published by Ashcraft Funeral Home. He was 23 years old.
He graduated from Penns Grove High School where he played baseball.
