Girl Who Died In Connecticut Murder-Suicide Remembered For Her Happiness Layla Kim Ngân Malon was described as a little girl who brought smiles and happiness to all around her, according to her obituary. The 7-year-old died on Thursday, June 17, when she was drowned by her mother in Westport, who later killed herself, according to the Westport Police. Born in Danbury, she was the beloved daughter of Eric Malon of Westport and the late Tracy Do. Layla was a student at Coleytown Elementary school. Two Connecticut Schools Closed After Death Of 7-Year-Old In Murder-Suicide Two Fairfield County schools will be closed on Monday, June 21, following the deaths of a 7-year-old student and her mother. The schools, Coleytown Elementary School, which the child attended, along with Stepping Stones Preschool, which is located inside Coleytown, will be closed Monday in response to the tragedy. Monday was supposed to be the last day of school, but School Superintendent Thomas Scarice said that instead of classes, students and teachers and staff, can receive grief counseling.
